Update to Vaccine Policy

Dear ECRD Participants,

As you are aware, in the year since ECRD resumed practices, league leadership has implemented a strict vaccine requirement for all participants to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. The Board of Directors has been closely monitoring Lane County transmission levels and the vaccine policies of other roller derby leagues around western Oregon. The Board understands that there are individuals who are unable to safely receive a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) due to medical reasons, and we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in our league in a safe and healthy manner. In March we conducted a survey among dues paying league members to gauge the needs and opinions of our skaters regarding the vaccine policy.

After careful consideration of the feedback received, the ECRD Board has decided to revise the vaccine policy to allow for medical exemptions. This means that participants who have a medical condition that prevents them from safely receiving a vaccine against COVID-19 will be allowed to self-certify this fact. If they are found at any point to have willfully misrepresented their need for a medical exemption, they will be dismissed from the league.

The Board encourages anyone who may be eligible for a medical exemption to reach out to us to discuss their situation further. We are available to address any concerns or questions you, our current participants may have, and are committed to working with you to find the best possible solution.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times, and we look forward to continuing to provide a safe and enjoyable roller derby experience for all ECRD participants.

Sincerely,
The Emerald City Roller Derby Board of Directors
